How it works

Four steps from application to your first pharmacy job

Final phase

Why Drugy

A pharmacy-only academy, not a catalog of courses

Drugy teaches one program. Everything — the instructors, the curriculum, the externship network — points at pharmacy.

Taught by pharmacy professionals

Live instruction and student questions are handled by people who have worked behind a pharmacy counter — not a general-purpose tutor reading slides.

Built for people with jobs

Coursework is asynchronous. Live sessions run weekly and are recorded, so a shift or a sick child doesn't put you behind the cohort.

Straight answers about certification

We tell you exactly what the program does and doesn't do: it prepares you and satisfies an education pathway. PTCB awards the credential once you pass.

Real hours in a real pharmacy

Classroom knowledge isn't what gets you hired without experience. We coordinate externship placement so you finish with hours on your resume.

A person, not a ticket queue

Small cohorts mean your advisor and instructor know your name, notice when you go quiet, and reach out before you fall behind.

Priced without the guessing game

The full tuition is on this page. No “apply to see your personalized price”, no pressure call before you know what it costs.

Certification path

Exactly how you become a CPhT

Most training providers blur this. Here is the honest version, step by step — including the parts Drugy does not control.

1

You complete Drugy

Drugy is a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program. Finishing it satisfies one of PTCB's education pathways and prepares you for the exam.

Drugy's part
2

You pass the exam

You register and sit the PTCE (PTCB) or ExCPT (NHA) yourself. Exam fees are paid to the awarding body and are not included in tuition.

Your part
3

PTCB awards the credential

Once you meet all eligibility conditions and pass, PTCB — not Drugy — awards the CPhT credential. Your state may also require separate registration or licensure.

PTCB & your state

Practical experience

130 hours behind a real pharmacy counter

“No experience” is the reason most entry-level pharmacy applications get rejected. The externship exists to remove that objection from your resume before you start applying.

After your coursework, Drugy's team works to place you at a pharmacy near you. You'll shadow and then assist with intake, data entry, filling, inventory and patient interaction under supervision.

What we commit to — and what we can't

  • Drugy actively sources and coordinates your placement, and handles the paperwork with the site.
  • Hours are unpaid and scheduled around the pharmacy's operating hours, typically weekdays.
  • Placement depends on your location, your weekday availability, and site capacity. We confirm availability for your ZIP before you enroll.
  • Sites usually require a background check, drug screening and up-to-date immunizations. Requirements are set by each pharmacy.

After you certify

Career support that continues past graduation

Resume built for pharmacy

We rewrite your resume around your externship hours and certification so it survives the applicant-tracking filters retail and hospital pharmacies use.

Mock interviews

Practice the questions that actually come up — handling an angry customer, a suspected error, a controlled-substance count that doesn't balance.

Job leads in your area

Openings near you, plus guidance on which settings suit you — retail, hospital, long-term care, compounding or mail-order.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

4 months in total: 3 months of online coursework, then 1 month completing your 130-hour externship. Plan on roughly 8–12 hours a week, including one live session. Live sessions are recorded, so missing one doesn't put you behind.

None. The program is built for complete beginners and starts from what a pharmacy technician does and how a pharmacy operates. Most of our students come from retail, food service, caregiving or administrative work.

You'll finish Drugy prepared for the exam and eligible to sit it — but the credential itself comes from the awarding body, not from us. Drugy is a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program, so completing it satisfies one of PTCB's education pathways to the PTCE.

You then register for and pass the PTCE (PTCB) or ExCPT (NHA). Once you've met all their eligibility requirements and passed, PTCB awards the CPhT credential. Your state may require separate registration or licensure on top of that — we'll tell you what applies where you live.

Tuition is currently $1,200 in full, or $300 a month for 4 months — the same total, with no interest. That is a limited-time offer reduced from our standard $1,600. It covers all coursework, live sessions, materials, mock exams, externship coordination and career support.

Not included: your certification exam fee (paid to PTCB or NHA), any state registration or licensure fees, and any background check, drug screening or immunizations an externship site requires.

That depends on your location, your weekday availability and current site capacity — which is exactly why we check it before you enroll rather than after. Apply and an advisor will confirm what's available near you.

Externship hours are unpaid, generally fall during pharmacy business hours, and most sites require a background check, drug screening and current immunizations.

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Reliable internet access and a computer
  • Living in a state where we can support your externship and job search

You'll get an immediate confirmation, then an admissions advisor reviews your application and contacts you to answer questions and walk through cohort dates and payment options. There's no obligation to enroll, and no payment details are taken on this form.
